Secrets

Scripture: Luke 12:1-3 Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.

Observation: Here is one of the many times which Jesus gives his disciples a little tidbit of extra information. Wouldn't it have been awesome to talk to Jesus one on one and hear his advice from his lips? Or would it have been overwhelming? Here, Jesus talks to them about the ramifications of gossip, talking about others in secret, letting everything you say or try to hide be revealed from the roof tops.

Application: How would we live differently if we knew that all our secrets were not going to be secrets? If everything we wanted to keep quite was going to be proclaimed from the roof tops. We would probably have a different attitude toward saying things and doing things that we knew everyone would find out about.

Prayer: Lord help me be the follower that you would have me to be.
